Restaurant Depot is a distributor that carries many brands of red meat and chicken. In regard to their chicken, all of it is machine slaughtered. In regard to their red meat, the slaughter process is currently unknown. Most brands hold Halal certifications from certifying bodies such as Halal Transactions of Omaha (HTO) & HalalCo. Despite multiple attempts to obtain information from HTO regarding their stance on potentially problematic slaughtering practices, such as vertical slaughter, stunning, or blunt force trauma to the head/brain area, non-Muslim slaughtermen, etc., these efforts have been unsuccessful. It is important to note that the principal when it comes to meat is that meat is considered haram until there is evidence confirming it is halal. This is a principle that is consistent throughout Islamic jurisprudence.
